International Girls in ICT Day 2013

On the 25th April 2013, Anglo African Events (AAE) in partnership with Media Corner (MC), Hewlett Packard (HP) and Intel hosted girls in ICT Event. The aim of the event was to educate, empower and encourage young girls to consider a career in ICT.

140 girl learners were hosted at a conference where they got an opportunity to listen to a session with Women in the ICT sector. The Women Panel shared their journey and experiences on how they got into the ICT sector.

About International Girls in ICT

International Girls’ in ICT Day is an initiative backed by ITU Member States in ITU Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Guadalajara, 2010) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year to be the day girls and young women are particularly encouraged to consider careers in ICT.
